I'm planning on joining the Gold's Gym in my area very soon with my girlfriend. We're both kind'a lazy when it comes to dieting and cardio but we're both extremely strong. Is is at all unhealthy to lose weight just by building muscle? We're both kind'a fatty right now but I can see us getting pretty beefy if we keep up the lifting. Once we get into the pace of working out, I can imagine us getting into cardio.

DJ,
You guys will probably want to throw a day or two of cardio into the mix to help shed those existing layers of fat. Yes, it's true that as you put on muscle it will help burn off excess fat as well.
Another thing not to overlook is your diet. Nutrition is one of the most important things and you'll really be rewarded with the results you're after much quicker if you change your eating habits and stay disciplined.

If you ever get bored with cardio DJ, you could always try some running on the treadmill or outside to lose some extra fat. I've been running for a number of years and I find running really burns off any fat that I acquire.
And like alexandra said, stay focused and disciplined and you'll do alright.
